What is a Zine?

Zine's are a shortened version of a magazine and are mainly targeting a limited audience. They are a inexpensively produced, self published, underground publication, ranging from hand drawn to printed and even online.

The exact date of the first zine is unknown, roughly in the 1970's, but Benjamin Franklin could argue that ( if he was alive) because in the 18th century he started a small literary magazine for psychiatric patients at a Pennsylvania. This could be considered the very first zine because it captures the essence of the philosophy and meaning of a Zine. 

Here a few cool Fashion Zines :

1. A fad that quickly came and quickly passed, was the american flag on anything and everything.

2. The crop top can be pulled off, if worn with a cute high waisted skirt or shorts but wearing it with hipsters has most certainly gone out of fashion.

3. Wearing ten million rings and making your hands weigh a few kg extra used to be a huge hit. Nowadays its one massive staple ring or lots of simple smaller rings.

4. Once people realised that growing your hair back takes ummm, a long time, they realized this was a bad idea.

5. Jeggings... Feel like leggings but look like jeans..

 6. While it had a great run, its time to move on. Mustard colour is being replaced with lemon yellows this year.

7. Crocs, no comment necessary

8. Double denim! Some hated, some loved..

9. What was Alexander Mcqueen thinking. The 'Armidillo' Heel is getting alot of names, and strange is one of them.. WHYYYYY

Mary Katrantzou is spiraling out of control with all the pattern influences she uses on her designs!  Architecture , flowers and even temples all blended into one giant masterpiece.. ^^  Spring summer 2012 collection is amazing! This trend has definitely emerged from the runways!!

The girl with the dragon tat, Rooney Mara. With her romantic but edgy look, this rising actress has made a big name for herself, starring along side Daniel Craig, (Bond, James Bond) in the English version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Good movie, go watch.. now

Tortoise shell, horn frames and cat eyes are making a huge impact in the streets this season! Bold designs are a must have for this years accessories. 

Only the brave can pull of this look! And Charlette Free is one of them, her pink DIY hair colour looks to dye for.. (get it lol) 

This duo of the long skirt and casual shirt works wonders. Christian Siriano designs are a closet must-have..

Emerging together on the runways at the moment, are the colours blue and lemon yellow. The new partnership is formed to create a fresh yet strong palette :) Rodarte'S/S collection is a perfect example of blue and yellow working well together.

Dior's new 'Velvet Eyes' has made thousands of girls very happy.. The time and energy that goes into getting eyeliner right on one eye, let alone two is cut short now that all they have to do is stick one of these babies on. The catwalk inspired idea comes in all sorts of designs, ready for any occasion! A set of four costs $59.00 AND they are reusable, totally worth its price!!
